Let’s work together! :)
My name is Larisa, also known on social media as Lara Pickle. I’m a Spanish-Romanian artist and visual storyteller.
I first stumbled upon my love for drawing because I adored Hanna Barbera´s cartoons, which I watched on a black-and-white TV - that didn’t even have a remote control - at a very young age when my family still lived in Romania. Years later, I discovered Disney - Mulan and 101 Dalmatians being two of my very faves - Ghibli, and the whole wide universe of anime, where series and movies like FMA, Spirited Away, Inuyasha, and a very large list of different titles made me obsessed about drawing even more! I just loved the stories, and I wanted to draw my favorite characters.
But apart from animation, I’ve always also been inspired by manga, French comics, and art in general! I would love to visit museums and galleries whenever I could - And I still do nowadays, of course. My family and friends, and life in general, inspire me the most though.
I believe in nourishing for the sake of nourishing, which means that, living life, observing the small and beautiful moments in life, or treasuring my experiences - good or bad - makes a person happy, healthy, and inspired. And when someone feels like that, then the energy to grow and create comes along the way.
The thing that I am proudest of though, Is the fact that I like to write and draw my own stories: “Estoy fatal Gracias” is my first published Graphic novel, and it’s been so far out in Spain and Latin America by VR Europa; in France and Canada thanks to Hachette Romains under the name of “Joana dans tous ses états”, and worldwide in English via to OniPress under the name “I feel awful, thanks”.
Throughout my career, I’ve been working in different media: TV animation, video games, publishing, and even theatre production. And I feel grateful to do so, as I believe to have acquired quite a broad perspective on how projects can work across very different media and pipelines. Clients and studios that I have worked with include Netflix, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Disney, and many more.
When it comes to stories I can help create, I love a good challenge, as well as a story that expresses good values towards inclusion, and progression, and also talks about topics that I care about on a personal level, like mental health, toxicity, love (and relationships), introspection, and self-discovery.
Shall we work on your story together?
